Hello I'm Shu Zhen
I'm a Senior Occupational Therapist
Shu Zhen is a Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist at FLOU, bringing over 15 years of experience working with children and families. She holds a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy and previously spent her clinical career at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH), where she supported children with a wide range of developmental needs.
Her years at KKH provided a strong foundation in paediatric therapy, particularly in early intervention, and working closely with caregivers and educators. Over time, Shu Zhen developed a special interest in self-regulation and sleep — areas that significantly impact a child’s daily life but are often overlooked. What drives her is the opportunity to walk alongside families, helping them discover strategies that feel manageable, meaningful, and empowering.
Shu Zhen’s therapeutic philosophy is gentle, collaborative, and grounded in everyday life. She believes that progress happens when families are met where they are, and when caregivers feel supported and confident in their role.
With a strong focus on early intervention, emotional regulation, and sleep, Shu Zhen aims to create calm, safe spaces where children can grow at their own pace. She draws on evidence-based practices and coaching-based models to support families in integrating therapeutic strategies into daily routines — whether it’s navigating bedtime struggles, managing big emotions, or building developmental foundations.
To her, therapy is about more than just skill-building — it’s about connection, confidence, and equipping families with the tools they need to support their child with clarity and heart.
A naturally reflective practitioner, Shu Zhen finds joy in lifelong learning. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, being in nature, and exploring holistic approaches to wellness. She finds meaning in discovering small, intentional ways to support regulation and wellbeing — not only for children, but also for the families who care for them.
After many years in a hospital setting, FLOU has given Shu Zhen the opportunity to practise in a space that feels more personal, warm, and connected. She values FLOU’s emphasis on relationships — between therapist and child, parent and practitioner, and among the team itself.
Being part of this heart-led, multidisciplinary environment allows her to stay true to her values: slowing down, listening deeply, and creating therapeutic experiences that are thoughtful, grounded, and family-centred. Shu Zhen is committed to building a space where families feel safe, supported, and empowered — because when that happens, real and lasting change becomes possible.
